Owner/chef James Guldberg honed his culinary skills with Thierry Galichet (Montrachet) and Bruno Loubet (Baguette) before working at Sardine Tin, The Survey Co. and Aquitaine Brasserie. Chef Guldberg has a passion for simple Europeanstyle dishes made from quality local ingredients.
Chef Guldberg’s wife, Erinn, provides friendly and informative service in this intimate bistro that would be at home in a tiny Parisian backstreet. Classic bentwood chairs, timber-topped tables and an open kitchen add to the charming atmosphere.
Although the menu is succinct, it uses an appealing variety of unique ingredients. Popcorn crocodile comprises small pieces of sweet crocodile meat that have been floured then deep-fried until crispy. They are served with a light and pleasant hollandaise sauce. Juicy and tender, grass-fed beef porterhouse is topped with an elegant green pepper butter. The accompanying shredded pickled daikon adds an acidic touch, while a pungent whole onion is charred on the outside but soft and smoky inside.
